Thank You for a Successful PTA Movie Night

A shoutout to all of our PTA volunteers for making the PTA Movie Night on Thursday such a success!  Two showings were held and the students had a great time!  Thank you again for all who made it possible.

Parking Lot Safety

For your review, here are the traffic and parking lot expectations:

  • Red Curbs – “as required under California Vehicle Code Section 21458(a)(1), a curb painted red shall indicate no stopping, standing, or parking whether the vehicle is attended or unattended.”
  • The left lane in the parking lot is for traffic to move through.  Parking/stopping in the left lane blocks cars from being able to exit.  Students should not exit or enter vehicles that are in the left lane.
  • Use crosswalks for crossing the street and parking lot.  When dropping students off, please be sure that they exit the vehicle on the right so that they get out directly onto the sidewalk closest to the school building.
  • Follow traffic patterns and do not double park along parking spaces.

Safety Patrol has been training with CVPD for the last few weeks to prepare for supporting our students in the parking lot before and after school.  Once they go on duty, please be mindful that they are students trying to do their part in keeping their fellow students safe.  Thank you, in advance, for supporting our student leaders!

If you would like to volunteer in our parking lot, please let me know at crystal.sutton@cvesd.org.

Everyday Counts – Attendance Reminders

Just a reminder that our gates open for breakfast and the track at 8:10am – we encourage our families to take advantage of this opportunity, as you beat the parking lot rush!  School starts promptly at 8:45am and students should be in line by 8:40am.

If a student is sick with a fever, bowel issues, committing, COVID, flu, etc., they should not attend school.  Also keep in mind that students who have a 100+ degree temperature may not come to school and can return after they have been fever free for 24 hours without medication.

Again, here are tips for attendance to know what is excused and what is not:

  • Please call the office to report any absences and the reason for the absence.
    • Excused Absences: illness, doctor appointments for the student, military engagements (ex. ceremony, return from deployment), death of an immediate family member, etc.
    • Unexcused Absences:  appointments for other family members, out of town, vacations, etc.
    • Independent Study:  If you know ahead that your child might need to miss school (ex. family reunion), please contact your child’s teacher and our office to set up an independent study contract.  Independent Study contracts are available for 3 or more days, but not more than 14 cumulative days in a school year.  Independent Study Contracts should be requested at least one week in advance.
    • Tardy:  Students are considered tardy if they are not in class by 8:45am.
    • COVID absences are cleared with a POSITIVE test result.  Current guidelines require positive individuals to stay home for 5 days and mask through Day 10 on campus.

This is the final week of school before the Thanksgiving Break.  There will be no school Monday, November 20th through Friday, November 24th.  School will resume on Monday, November 27th and it will be a regular day.

Here’s to a great week!

Take Care,

Dr. Sutton

We had a beautiful display for Dia de Los Muertos in our MPR this week.  Thank you to our Dual Language Team and all of the staff, families and students who came together to make it happen!

We will also be hosting our annual Veteran’s Picnic on Friday, November 17th.  Veterans are welcome to come eat a picnic lunch with their student during their grade level lunchtime.  Bring a blanket and a lunch – the grade level lunch times are below:

We understand that the painting of the additional red curb is a major shift and it impacts how pick up and drop off has been for a very long time.  The red curbs are because that is the current building code and we must adjust to fulfill this new requirement.  Thank you, in advance, for keeping our students safe and thank you to those who are following our expectations in the parking lot.

I am excited to share with you that Safety Patrol is coming back after a long hiatus!  Ms. Brauer and Ms. Bertrand, along with a group of 5th and 6th graders are gearing up to start patrol before and after school.  They are in the process of beginning their training with CVPD and we be out in the parking lot soon!

If you would like to volunteer in our parking lot, please let me know at crystal.sutton@cvesd.org.

Weekly Message for the Week of October 16th

Dear Tiffany Families,

I hope this email finds you well and that you were able to catch the eclipse this weekend!  It was awesome to watch!  Thank you for a great first week back and we look forward to another amazing quarter ahead.  Here is the information for the week:

Change to Traffic Pattern

As a reminder and you have now seen, some of our sidewalks were replaced and updated over the Fall Break.  In addition, as shared previously, all yellow curbs have now been painted red.  NO PARKING is permitted on any red fire lane.  Students who can be dropped off, should do so, exit the vehicle on the curb side, and walk on to campus.  The car should then pull away so that the next vehicle can do the same.  Cars should not be parked or left in any fire lane at any time.

For pick up, please make sure that your child knows where to meet you and if it is a drive through pick up, be sure they are paying attention so that they can get in the car as efficiently as possible.

If you need to park, please do so in a marked stall or on the street in a proper location.  If parking in the neighborhood, please be courteous to our neighbors by not blocking their driveways, etc.

We understand that this is a major shift and it impacts how pick up and drop off has been for a very long time.  The red curbs are because that is the current building code and we must adjust to fulfill this new requirement.  Thank you, in advance, for keeping our students safe.

If you would like to volunteer in our parking lot, please let me know at crystal.sutton@cvesd.org.

Here are our volunteer needs:
T-Shirts Sorting:  We will receive 500+ Fun Run T-shirts from our vendor.  The T-shirts need to be sorted by classroom according to the class roster provided by each teacher of the students’ and adults’ sizes in each class.
Fruit and Water Distribution Purchase:  Purchase the bulk fruit (mandarin oranges / bananas), the gallons of water and mini paper cups for the water stations. Deliver all fruit, water, cups, etc. to the PTA Room no later than Tuesday, October 17th.  This volunteer must keep receipts of all purchases for reimbursement of expenses by the PTA.
Set Up Track: Set Up the 2 tracks for the Fun Run.  This includes setting up the fence stakes, the plastic fencing, the flags, etc. and also includes chalking the tracks.
General Pre-Event Set Up:  The morning of the Fun Run, there will be miscellaneous tasks to make sure the tracks, tables, speakers, banner, trash bins, cones, etc. are all ready and in place before the event.
Lap Trackers:  Lap Trackers will mark the students’ T-shirts with washable markers as they complete each lap.  Trackers also cheer on and encourage students as they jog/walk around the track.  They should watch out for students who appear extremely fatigued and to encourage them to walk and get some water, if they need it.
Water Station Attendants:  Attendants set up the water station for each track.  The station will have a 3-gallon water dispenser that should be filled before the Fun Run.  Mini water cups should be filled and placed on the table so the students can easily grab water if they get thirsty.  Trash bins should be placed nearby for easy disposal of empty water cups.  Attendants also cheer on and encourage students as they jog/walk around the track.  They should watch out for students who appear extremely fatigued and to encourage them to walk and get some water, if they need it.
Post-Run Fruit and Water Station:  Set up fruit and water distribution tables and assist with distribution of fruit and water after the Fun Run.  Set up trash bins for easy disposal of fruit peels and trash.
General Tear Down / Clean Up:  Tear down both tracks and store supplies and equipment away for future use.  Clean up track and dispose of trash and debris.
Prizes Assembly:  Assemble prize bags based on students’ total money earned via Pledgestar and per-lap pledges.  Staple on each prize bag the sheet with the student’s name, the prize level reached, and prizes awarded.
There may be some additional volunteer tasks as we go along but the above list is the bulk of what we need help with.  Thank you very much for your continued support of the Tiffany PTA.  We are encouraged by all the support we’ve received so far and look forward to working with you in making this Fun Run the most successful fundraiser ever.
Thank you!
Tiffany PTA

We have a very busy Quarter ahead of us!  Here is the information for the Week:

Reminder – Change to Traffic Pattern

As a reminder, some of our sidewalks were replaced and updated over the Fall Break.  In addition, as shared previously, nearly all yellow curbs have now been painted red.  Painting occurred at approximately 4pm on Friday.  No parking will be permitted on any of the red curbs.  Students who can be dropped off, should use the yellow curb near the office, exit the vehicle on the curb side, and walk on to campus.  The car should then pull away so that the next vehicle can do the same.

For pick up, please make sure that your child knows where to meet you and if it is a drive through pick up, be sure they are paying attention so that they can get in the car as efficiently as possible.

If you need to park, please do so in a marked stall or on the street in a proper location.  We understand that this has a major impact on our families, but our hope is that it will make it a safe and smooth experience for drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon.

If you would like to volunteer in our parking lot, please let me know at crystal.sutton@cvesd.org.

SSC Meeting on Tuesday, October 10th at 3:30pm

Our next SSC Meeting will be Tuesday, October 10th at 3:30pm.  We will meet in the MPR.  Below are the minutes from the previous meeting as well as the agenda which also contains the link to join virtually.

District Training on Wednesday, October 11th – Parking Impacted

We will be hosting a District Training for Teachers on Wednesday, October 11th from 8am-3:00pm.  This might impact parking in our lot and surrounding areas.  I wanted to make sure that our community is aware.

Our Annual PTA Tiger Trek is Underway – Event on October 18th!

Our Annual Tiger Trek is underway and it is our main fundraiser for the year!  With the support of this fundraiser, it allows our students to benefit from so many incredible activities during the school day (the most recent was the Mad Science Assembly), the community events (campout, Fall Carnival, etc.) and mini grants for our teachers.  Since our PTA runs this event in house, all proceeds go right back to our community.  The actual run will be on October 18th and we hope that our families will be able to join us!  Thank you for your support!

Everyday Counts – Attendance Reminders

With the start of a new quarter and the changes to our parking lot traffic pattern, I would like to take a moment to remind our families about attendance.  We are a late start school, which starts at 8:45am, however, that means that students are in their classrooms at 8:45am.

The last week before break, I noticed at 8:30am, there were about 100 1st through 6th grade students on the blacktop.  We have approximately 550 students!  The parking lot does not get busy until 8:35 and most cars do not arrive until 8:45am, which causes the major back up and frustrations with traffic.  Students should already be in line by 8:40am.  I challenge the students to start their morning routine 15 minutes earlier so that we can be to school on time.  Just a reminder that our gates open for breakfast and the track at 8:10am – we encourage our families to take advantage of this opportunity.
