Weekly Message for the Week of August 22nd

Dear Tiffany Families,

I hope this email finds you well this weekend – here is the information for the week:

SSC – Community Members Needed

We have a vacancy on our SSC and are in need of community members!  The commitment is one meeting a month – you can join virtually or in person.  Until will fill this vacancy, we cannot move forward with our required meetings.  If you are willing to be a part of SSC, please email me as soon as possible – crystal.sutton@cvesd.org.

Traffic and Safety

Traffic safety in our parking lot continues to be of great concern.  When we do not follow the expectations, it compromises the safety of everyone, but most importantly, the safety of our students.  If you are interested in volunteering, please email me as soon as possible at crystal.sutton@cvesd.org.  I will continue to include these reminders in our weekly message:

  • Red Curbs – “as required under California Vehicle Code Section 21458(a)(1), a curb painted red shall indicate no stopping, standing, or parking whether the vehicle is attended or unattended.”
  • Yellow curbs are for loading and unloading only – cars should not be parked and left unattended.  If you are on a yellow curb, you should be in your vehicle to move as the traffic is moving.
  • The left lane in the parking lot is for traffic to move through.  Parking/stopping in the left lane blocks cars from being able to exit.  Students should not exit or enter vehicles that are in the left lane.
  • Use crosswalks for crossing the street and parking lot.  When dropping students off, please be sure that they exit the vehicle on the right so that they get out directly onto the sidewalk closest to the school building.
  • Follow traffic patterns and do not double park along parking spaces.

Thank you for your help in keeping our parking lot and neighbor safe, which ultimately keeps our students safe.

Campus Clinic

Campus Clinic, operated by COVID Clinic, is the organization that will be providing testing for students and staff here on campus each Wednesday at Tiffany Elementary.  If you want to participate in this optional testing, a new consent form must be filled out for the 2022-2023 school year.  Students and staff who were previously registered will not automatically rollover.  The consent forms were sent via email and are personalized for each student and staff member.
Optional testing will take place every Wednesday.  Campus Clinic staff will be on campus and will test only students and staff who have consent to be tested.  PCR tests will be used and results are shared with parent(s) via email within 24-48 hours.  If your child has tested positive within the last 90 days, PCR tests are not recommended because they can pick up small fragments of the virus.  Antigen testing is not available through Campus Clinic yet.  If that changes, we will let our community know.
If you did not receive an email from Campus Clinic and want to have your child participate, please email support@campusclinic.orgThey will be able to assist you with registration.  Our front office does not handle registration for testing.
Here’s to a great week!

Weekly Message for the Week of August 15th

Dear Tiffany Families,

I hope this email finds you well on this weekend – it’s a hot one outside!  Here is the information for the week:

Traffic and Safety

This week was particularly challenging in our parking lot.  It takes all stakeholders in our community, who are coming and going each day, to help uphold the safety expectations.  When we do not, it compromises the safety of everyone, but most importantly, the safety of our students.  A few parents have stepped up and would like to volunteer with traffic.  If you are interested in volunteering in this way, please email me as soon as possible at crystal.sutton@cvesd.org.

Our parking lot empties out relatively quickly when everyone follows the expectations.  I appreciate your support.  Here are a few important reminders:

Our School Resource Officer from CVPD was here last week and will be making stops by our school to help support traffic as well.  Thank you for your help in keeping our parking lot and neighbor safe, which ultimately keeps our students safe.  Again, we appreciate your support.

Weekly Message for the Week of August 8th

Dear Tiffany Families,

I hope this email finds you well on this warm August weekend!  Here is the information for the week:

Parent Leadership Opportunities – SSC, DAC and DELAC

Are you interested in serving in a leadership capacity here at Tiffany?  We are looking for parents who are interested in running for School Site Council (SSC).  SSC is an elected body comprised of community members and staff who oversee the financial aspects of our campus, providing transparency and collaboration in how we use funds to support our students.

DAC (District Advisory Committee) and ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee) are two more ways that parents can serve Tiffany at the district level.  Check out these videos for more information.

If you are interested in being involved with either of these opportunities, please email me at crystal.sutton@cvesd.org as soon as possible.

ELAC

Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, August 9th at 9am in the MPR.  At this meeting, I will present an overview of what ELAC is, discuss leadership opportunities and more.  I look forward to seeing you there!

English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) is another way for parents to get involved.  The ELAC advises on the following:

  • Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners and submitting the plan to the School Site Council for consideration of inclusion in the School Plan for Student Achievement.
  • Assisting in the development of the school-wide needs assessment.
  • Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
  • Each ELAC shall have the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory (DELAC)

Traffic and Safety

When we all follow the traffic patterns and expectations, traffic will move smoothly and everyone will get where they need to go each morning and afternoon.

Please park in marked stalls or on the street in non-permitted areas in the neighborhood.  Yellow curbs are for loading and unloading only – cars should not be parked and left unattended.  No cars, attended or unattended, should be parked on red curbs.  These are fire lanes and when they are blocked, it poses a safety risk to our students, staff and community.

Use crosswalks for crossing the street and parking lot.  When dropping students off, please be sure that they exit the vehicle on the right so that they get out directly onto the sidewalk closest to the school building.

Follow traffic patterns and do not double park along parking spaces.

Thank you for your help in keeping our parking lot and neighbor safe, which ultimately keeps our students safe.  We appreciate your support.

Traffic and Safety

As we enter our second full week of school, I would like to remind our community of the importance of traffic safety in our parking lot.  Our parking lot is one of the larger parking lots in CVESD.  If we all follow the traffic patterns and expectations, traffic will move smoothly and everyone will get where they need to go each morning and afternoon.

Weekly Message for the Week of July 25th

Dear Tiffany Families,

I hope this message finds you well on this beautiful San Diego Sunday!  The first three days back with students was so great – we are looking forward to an amazing year here at Tiffany!

Communication is very important and I want you to know that you can expect a message from me each Sunday which details what you might need for the upcoming week.  I post the identical message on our Tiffany Blog and email it through School Messenger.

This week’s message is quite long, as it contains many items related to the beginning of the year.  They will not be as long in the future!

Curriculum Night – Tuesday, July 26th

We will be hosting Curriculum Night on Tuesday, July 26th here on campus.  Our teachers will present two identical 30-minute presentations, giving parents flexibility if they have more than one child or need to come a little later due to other commitments.  The first session is about 10 minutes longer because it will include a welcome video message from me.  The schedule will be as follows:

Session #1 – 5:00 – 5:40pm

  • Welcome Message from Dr. Sutton in Classrooms
  • Classroom Teacher Presentation

Transition – 5:40pm – 5:45pm

Session #2 – 5:45pm – 6:15pm

  • Classroom Teacher Presentation

This event is geared more toward parents to give you insight into what your child will be learning, expectations, etc.  We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!

Schedule for this Week

This will be our first full week of school, so I wanted to remind families of arrival and dismissal times.  They are as follows:

Monday Through Thursday

  • Grade K:  8:45AM – 2:55PM
  • Grades 1-6: 8:45 AM – 3:10 PM
  • Preschool AM: 8:45 AM – 11:45 AM
  • Preschool PM: 12:45 PM – 3:45 PM

Friday – Minimum Day

  • Grade K:  8:45AM – 1:40PM
  • Grades 1-6: 8:45 AM-1:55 PM
  • Preschool is closed on Fridays

When our school has Minimum Days that are not a Friday (ex. Parent Conferences), our preschool students follow their same schedule Monday through Thursday.

Safety and Traffic

It is my belief that we all share the same goal of having our students safe at school, which includes our parking lot before and after school.  Here are some friendly reminders regarding parking and traffic here at Tiffany.

  • When entering the parking lot, the right lane is for loading/unloading.
  • The left lane is for passing through traffic.  Please do not have your student exit the vehicle in the left lane and cross through on coming traffic.
  • Red curbs are fire lanes, and yellow curbs are for loading/unloading only.  At no time should cars be parked and left unattended on either a red or yellow curb.
  • Should you need to park, please do so in a marked stall or on the street.
  • Permit parking is in effect in the neighborhood West of our campus.
  • Bus loading areas should also be kept clear of vehicles.
  • Families who live close enough to walk are encouraged to do so.
  • Please leave plenty of time to allow for drop off and pick up.
  • Make sure that your student(s) are utilizing cross walks and not crossing through traffic.
  • Bus service is available for students who live farther from our campus, but still within our boundary.  Please visit our district website HERE for more information.

CVPD makes regular trips around our neighborhood and violations can be cited.  Please allow time for this process each day.  I am confident that if we all work together, our traffic will flow smoothly and everyone will get where they need to go.  Thank you for your support.

LCFF Survey Forms to Families

Your child(ren) will be bringing home a survey form titled – Local Control Funding Formula Collection Data for 2022-2023. This quick survey will have a critical impact on your child(ren)’s support and services. We are requesting our families to submit the Local Control Funding Formula Collection Data forms which determines the State and Federal funding that schools receive. This funding provides your child(ren) with support and resources for their academic success.

Benefits for your child(ren) include:

  • Instructional materials
  • Classroom technology
  • Additional staffing to provide supports for students
  • Extended learning opportunities for students
  • Before and after school programs

The survey is as simple as answering two questions:

  • How many people are living in the home?
  • What is your total monthly income?

We appreciate your time and support in ensuring your child(ren) get what they need and deserve in CVESD. Please return the survey by August 5, 2022.

PTA Membership Information

We have an AMAZING PTA on our campus and being a member is one way to support the work they do to enhance the school experience for our students.  Please consider becoming a member!  Here is the correct LINK if you would like to join online.  Envelopes will also be sent home if you would prefer to join by cash or check.  Thank you for your support!

Kindergarten Popsicle Sale

Looking for a treat after school on Friday?  Our Kindergarten Team will be selling popsicles after school on the next two Fridays, July 29th and August 5th.  The cost is $1 and the money raised is going toward new backpack racks and large carpets for the classroom.  Below is a flyer with the details:
