Weekly Message for the Week of August 1st

Dear Tiffany Families,

We made it through the first full week of school last week!  The students are settling into their classrooms and smiles are all around.  We are excited for what this year will bring for our Tiffany Tigers!  Here is the information for the week:

Lunch Applications

Lunch applications will be going home with students this week.  While all meals are free for all students this year, these applications also can provide additional funding for our school.  We are asking that our families fill out and return the applications for the lunch program.  This application is green – be on the look out for it and return by Friday, August 12th.  This application can also be completed online at https://www.schoolcafe.com/.

Traffic and Safety

As we enter our second full week of school, I would like to remind our community of the importance of traffic safety in our parking lot.  Our parking lot is one of the larger parking lots in CVESD.  If we all follow the traffic patterns and expectations, traffic will move smoothly and everyone will get where they need to go each morning and afternoon.

Please park in marked stalls or on the street in non-permitted areas in the neighborhood.  Yellow curbs are for loading and unloading only – cars should not be parked and left unattended.  No cars, attended or unattended, should be parked on red curbs.  These are fire lanes and when they are blocked, it poses a safety risk to our students, staff and community.

Use crosswalks for crossing the street and parking lot.  When dropping students off, please be sure that they exit the vehicle on the right so that they get out directly onto the sidewalk closest to the school building.

Follow traffic patterns and do not double park along parking spaces.

Thank you for your help in keeping our parking lot and neighbor safe, which ultimately keeps our students safe.  We appreciate your support.

Parent Leadership Opportunities – SSC, DAC and DELAC

Are you interested in serving in a leadership capacity here at Tiffany?  We are looking for parents who are interested in running for School Site Council (SSC).  SSC is an elected body comprised of community members and staff who oversee the financial aspects of our campus, providing transparency and collaboration in how we use funds to support our students.

DAC (District Advisory Committee) and ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee) are two more ways that parents can serve Tiffany at the district level.  Check out these videos for more information.

If you are interested in being involved with either of these opportunities, please email me at crystal.sutton@cvesd.org by Friday, August 5th.

ELAC

English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) is another way for parents to get involved.  The ELAC advises on the following:

  • Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners and submitting the plan to the School Site Council for consideration of inclusion in the School Plan for Student Achievement.
  • Assisting in the development of the school-wide needs assessment.
  • Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
  • Each ELAC shall have the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory (DELAC)

Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, August 9th at 9am in the MPR.  At this meeting, I will present an overview of what ELAC is, discuss leadership opportunities and more.  I look forward to seeing you there!

Campus Clinic

Campus Clinic, operated by COVID Clinic, is the organization that will be providing testing for students and staff here on campus each Wednesday at Tiffany Elementary.  If you want to participate in this optional testing, a new consent form must be filled out for the 2022-2023 school year.  Students and staff who were previously registered will not automatically rollover.  The consent forms were sent via email and are personalized for each student and staff member.
Optional testing will take place every Wednesday.  Campus Clinic staff will be on campus and will test only students and staff who have consent to be tested.  PCR tests will be used and results are shared with parent(s) via email within 24-48 hours.  If your child has tested positive within the last 90 days, PCR tests are not recommended because they can pick up small fragments of the virus.  Antigen testing is not available through Campus Clinic yet.  If that changes, we will let our community know.
If you did not receive an email from Campus Clinic and want to have your child participate, please email support@campusclinic.orgThey will be able to assist you with registration.  Our front office does not handle registration for testing.
Again, this is optional and available for those who want to utilize it.

Spirit Week Continues this Week

Kindergarten will be selling popsicles again on Friday for $1 each as a fundraiser for new backpack racks and rainbow carpets for the classrooms.  Thank you for your support!

Here’s to a great week!

Take Care,

Crystal Sutton
