Weekly Message for the Week of October 31st

Dear Tiffany Families,

What an incredible week of festivities last week!  It was so great to have such amazing activities for our students and families, something that I know we all have been missing these past couple years!  A big thank you to CVPD, CVFD, SD County Sheriff Department and the DEA for giving their time this week to present to our students as part of Red Ribbon Week!  Also, a HUGE thank you and shout out to our PTA Board, PTA Members, Tiffany Families and our local high schools for volunteering their time, donations, planning and organization to make our Fall Festival a success!  We had a full house and families repeated shared with me how grateful they were for their children to have this experience once again!

We look forward to more experiences this year!  Here is the information for the upcoming week:

Halloween Expectations

Just a friendly reminder that we will not be wearing costumes to school tomorrow.  The only exception to this is our preschool students, who will be having a small event of their own since they do not attend school on Fridays and were unable to participate in the whole school parade.  Thank you for your support.

Traffic and Safety Reminders

On Tuesday of last week, we had a medical emergency during morning arrival and it reinforced why following our traffic patterns at all times is incredibly important.  Our emergency crews had a bit of a challenge accessing the individual because of the time of day and the heavy traffic.  We made it work, with the help of parents, staff and community members who jumped in, which shows our collective care for each other.  While emergencies thankfully do not happen often, they do happen.  It is important that all of us work together to follow the expectations in the parking lot and keep our community safe.  Thank you for following the expectations below:

  • Red Curbs – “as required under California Vehicle Code Section 21458(a)(1), a curb painted red shall indicate no stopping, standing, or parking whether the vehicle is attended or unattended.”
  • Yellow curbs are for loading and unloading only – cars should not be parked and left unattended.  If you are on a yellow curb, you should be in your vehicle to move as the traffic is moving.
  • The left lane in the parking lot is for traffic to move through.  Parking/stopping in the left lane blocks cars from being able to exit.  Students should not exit or enter vehicles that are in the left lane.
  • Use crosswalks for crossing the street and parking lot.  When dropping students off, please be sure that they exit the vehicle on the right so that they get out directly onto the sidewalk closest to the school building.
  • Follow traffic patterns and do not double park along parking spaces.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email me at crystal.sutton@cvesd.org.

We are pleased to announced that we are going to resume our awards this year.  The first set of awards will be on November 8th and November 10th.  If your child is receiving an award, your teacher will notify you directly very soon.  The schedule will be as follows:

10:00-10:45am: Grades 3 & 4

Thursday, November 10th

Free and Reduced Lunch Application Extended until November 18th

I received an update on Friday that the government extended the Free/Reduced Lunch Application for schools.  If you have not completed an application for your child/children yet, please take a moment to do so.  Although breakfast and lunch is free for all this year, the completed form or application determines important funding allocations for our school which we have previously qualified for.

The Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) application is available online through November 18, 2022. Click on the link below to apply today or call our office at (619) 421-6300 for a paper application.  Thank you!

Veteran’s Day Presentation

At Tiffany, our community has a large percentage of families who currently serve or who have served our country in the U.S. Armed Forces.  We want to celebrate you!  We will be putting up a Military Family display up in our hallway here at school that we plan to keep up all year long.  If you want a photo of your loved one displayed, please send in a copy of a photo in to school (not the original).  We will have an envelope in the office that we will collect them in and will put them up for all to enjoy!

The second opportunity is to send in a digital copy to be included in a video presentation for our students to view.  Please send those photos to tiffany.office@cvesd.org.  Photos for this presentation are due by November 10th.

By submitting these photos, you are giving us permission to display them – both digitally and on campus for school use.  We are excited to celebrate our military families and we thank you for your service!

Military Connected Families Coffee Chat

On Wednesday, November 9th, we will be hosting a Military Coffee Chat from 8:45am – 9:45am here at Tiffany.  Come and meet other military connected families!  Our MFLC, Lucy Jasso, will also be in attendance.  She is on our campus full time and is able to serve our military connected children and their families in a variety of ways.  Her email is lucila.g.jasso@leidos.com if you ever have any questions for her.  She is an incredible addition to our school community.  We hope to see you there on the 9th!

Updated COVID Protocols

Any time a child is sick, they should stay home.  This was the case before COVID and continues to be the expectation.  If your child is sick, please call in their absence to the office so that we are aware.  Testing a child after having COVID like symptoms is still required to return, but results do not need to be submitted to the office any longer, unless they are positive.

If your child is exposed at school, please read those notifications carefully, as they contain all of the information that is needed related to the exposure.  Any COVID specific related questions can be asked at covtest4@cvesd.org.

Upcoming Dates

Friday, November 11th – No School in Observance of Veteran’s Day

November 21st – 25th – No School for Thanksgiving Break

December 19th – January 9th – No School for Winter Break

January 10th – Students Return for Quarter 3 – Minimum Day

January 16th – No School – Observance of MLK Day

Here’s to a great week!

Take Care,

Dr. Sutton
