Weekly Message for the Week of May 2nd

Dear Tiffany Families,

I hope this message finds you well on this first day of May!  Here is the information for the upcoming week.

Staff Appreciation Week

We have an amazing staff here at Tiffany!  Our wonderful PTA has an entire week planned to celebrate Staff Appreciation Week!

Tiffany Teachers Favorites List

Month of the Military Child – Thank You!

We concluded the Month of the Military Child here at Tiffany with a spirit week and a picnic lunch with our Military Families.  We thank our military community, both past and present, for your service to our country.  We are proud of our military connected students!

End Of Year Testing

Our students will be participating in End-of-Year testing starting this week and continuing throughout the quarter.  Below is the most current schedule which contains all grade levels and the assessments that they will be taking.  Most assessments will be given in the morning on the days listed.  Local Measures are district level assessments to show growth (TK-6th) and CAASPP (Grades 3-6) are state-wide assessments.

Tiffany Testing Calendar 2022 REVISED

Local Measures consist of Smart Ants (Grades TK-2), Level Set (Grades 2-6) and iReady Diagnostic (Grades TK-6).  These are similar to what students have taken this year at both the beginning and mid-year.

CAASPP was last administered in the 2018-2019 school year, as they have been cancelled the last two years due to COVID closures.  This year, it is our understanding the CAASPP with be about half of the length that it was previously.  If you would like to see the types of questions that might be asked, you can visit www.caaspp.org and view the practice tests per grade level.  Grades 3-6 will be tested in Language Arts and Math.  Fifth grade will also be assessed in Science.

Cell phones and smart watches are not allowed to be on during testing.  Teachers will ask students to power them off and store them away.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or to me at crystal.sutton@cvesd.org.

COVID Update – Returning to Campus with Symptoms
Symptomatic students and staff may return to school with improving symptoms provided they get a negative test and the results are shown to school staff or administrators. The test taken to return to school or work can be one PCR test or two antigen tests taken 12 hours apart or any test taken 5 days after symptoms onset, for return day 6. Parent/guardian/staff who do not want to test, may stay home for l0 days, and return on day 11. Staff are required to use lab tests per Cal/OSHA and may not use a home test to return to work.

Parking Lot Safety – Reminders

We really need the help of our families to follow the expectations for safety in our parking lot here at school.  If we all work together, it will make a safe and pleasant experience for all!

Please adhere to the traffic patterns in our parking lot.  Yellow zones are for loading and unloading.  Red zones are fire lanes.  Please park cars in marked stalls and do not leave cars unattended on red or yellow curbs.  If you need to exit your vehicle to meet your child, your car will need to be parked in a marked stall or on the street.  When cars are left on the curb, it blocks the flow of traffic, causing a back up for all.
Utilize crosswalks when crossing through the parking lot or in the neighborhood.  Finally, be mindful of speed in our school zone.  Thank you for your support in helping to keep our school safe.

Parent Learning Opportunities

CVESD will be hosting two more parent learning opportunities over the coming weeks.  The dates and topics are below, as well as the flyers with more detailed information.  All events will be held virtually from 6-7pm.

Welcome Back – Quarter 4!

Dear Tiffany Families,

I hope this message finds you safe and well!  We missed all of our students and families over this two week break.  I hope that you were able to enjoy moments with family and friends.  We look forward to kicking off an awesome final quarter!  Students return tomorrow, April 4th and it is a minimum day for K-6th grade students.

Change in Masking Requirements – Please Read
On Wednesday, March 9th, the CVESD Board of Education voted to make a change to the requirement of indoor masking for all on school campuses.  Effective March 21st, indoor masking is now encouraged, but not required for both adults and students.  Below is the letter from Dr. Reyes, our Superintendent, that explains the change to the requirement.
As face masks are now strongly recommended for students and staff, but not required, I want to remind our students and community members the importance of being kind and respectful towards each other, as some students and staff may decide to continue wearing masks and some may not. No student or staff member should be made to feel uncomfortable for their choice of whether or not to wear a mask now that the guidance has changed.
Masks will still be available, should a staff member or student want one, but we will not be asking students if they want to wear a mask.  If your family is choosing to continue masking and your child forgets their mask, please let your child know that they can ask a staff member for one and we will be able to provide it for them.
Test kits were provided before we went on break to both staff and students.  If possible, please use the rapid antigen test provided before you return to campus tomorrow.  Our office only needs to be notified if the test is positive.  Positive test results can be emailed to Tiffany.COVID@cvesd.org.
As always, safety of our community is of utmost importance and we will continue to monitor federal, state and local guidelines, adjusting when needed. Thank you for your support as we enter this next chapter of the pandemic.
